Your Guide to Mustang Week 2021 in Myrtle Beach

If you’ve been to Myrtle Beach in the summertime, you probably know all about bike weeks.

They’re a staple of a Grand Strand summer. But did you know there is also a week devoted to lovers of Ford Mustangs and SVTs (Special Vehicle Teams)? Mustang Week, now in its 20th year, happens Sept. 6-12 this year.

Every day is a bit different from the previous for an incredible week, and enthusiasts come from coast to coast to experience it. Participants often arrive in Myrtle Beach the weekend before the event just to enjoy a getaway a bit longer. In this post you’ll learn about registering your Mustang, the event schedule, and more.

What’s the Schedule?

Here’s the plan:

Monday, Sept. 6: Kickoff party, Hard Rock Cafe (Broadway at the Beach), 7 p.m. Pick up your annual Mustang Week T-shirts and raffle tickets.

Tuesday, Sept. 7: Meet and greet, Broadway at the Beach parking lot, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This is site of the inaugural meet and greet, and has drawn around 900 cars in previous years! Come see classics, pristine show cars, hand-built drag cars, daily driven street cars and more. Admission free. Mustang Week staff will be on hand for questions.

Wednesday, Sept. 8: Auto X and drift demos, old Freestyle amusement park off Highway 501.

Thursday, Sept. 9: Quarter-mile test and tune, Darlington Dragway (Hartsville, S.C.), 1–11 p.m. See what your Mustang can do on a drag strip! If you haven’t been since the facility’s renovations under new ownership, you owe yourself a visit. General admission: $15 at the gate, $20 for tech cards to take part in the event.

Friday, Sept. 10: 18th Annual Mustang Car Show presented by CJ Pony Parts. Myrtle Beach Convention Center. (Registration opens June 19).

  • Check In: 8–11 a.m.
  • Judging: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 11: Cruise in and awards. Myrtle Beach Convention Center, presented by Saleen. 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Car Show Awards and Raffle Drawing, 3. p.m.

What if My Mustang has Been Featured in Magazines?

They’re looking to celebrate those cars this year. If an ad or magazine has featured your car while at Mustang Week before, they have a special inside display for it. For cars entered in this show only.
