It’s always fun to kick a new year off in a beloved place. And for those within easy reach of the Carolina coast, where better to start off your 2020 than on the Grand Strand, where your New Year’s festivities can be accentuated by ocean breezes, fantastic fireworks and an array of activity options?

If you’ll be in the Myrtle Beach area to close out your 2019, consider attending one of these New Year’s celebrations to get your 2020 started off on the right foot:

Broadway at the Beach: This Myrtle Beach hot spot will serve up a trio of NYE celebration options. First, at 8 p.m., the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Extravaganza will light up the skies over Lake Broadway with a pyrotechnics show (weather permitting). And following the fireworks, the Ring in the New Year at Margaritaville festivities will begin at 9 p.m. at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville with live music from the Paul Grimshaw Band. As the evening continues, stiltwalkers and party favors will round out the fun, and a Midnight Margarita Shooter will help revelers welcome 2020 in style. Nearby at the Hard Rock Café, the New Year’s Eve Bash will feature music from Chocolate Chip & Company, a balloon drop, confetti cannons and party favors, plus additional perks based on the package purchased. The festivities start at 10 p.m.

House of Blues: Two different celebration options will be on offer at this famed live-music venue at the Barefoot Landing shopping/dining/entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach. Guests who choose to attend the New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance will be treated to an evening of music from Tru Sol, a four-course dinner followed by a champagne toast at midnight, a complimentary pair of tickets to a 2020 HoB concert of their choice, and a list of other perks. At the HoB’s second signature event, country-tinged singer/songwriter Corey Smith will return to the venue’s stage to treat fans to a live show as 2020 kicks off.

Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s: This fun waterfront oasis, also found at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, will present Noon Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This kids’ party before the grown-ups’ party will feature a countdown to noon, when a huge beach ball drop will be staged over the restaurant’s backyard beach. Other fun activities for the little ones will include a live band, crafts, games, kid-safe “fireworks” (bubble wrap), face painting, balloon animals and more.

Brookgreen Gardens — Light Up the New Year!: No matter where you plan to be when the clock strikes midnight, you can start your festive evening off with a relaxing stroll through the beauty of Brookgreen Gardens. Thousands of hand-lit candles and holiday lights will illuminate the grounds of the popular Murrells Inlet sculpture gardens from 6 to 9 p.m., all while music sets the mood. The event will be presented on the evenings of Dec. 27, 28 and 31. Learn more at org.
