Score Some Outdoor Fun on These 5 Myrtle Beach Area Disc Golf Courses

Offering a great way to get out and enjoy the outdoors — with minimal expenses — the sport of disc golf has been picking up popularity nationwide in recent years. And as the sport’s courses (along with their signature hanging-chain baskets that provide the end target for each hole) spring up from coast to coast, it should come as no surprise that the outdoor-opportunity-abundant Grand Strand is in on the trend.

Looking for some outdoor fun? Next time you and your vacation crew are in the Myrtle Beach area, grab your discs and head for one of these five Myrtle Beach area disc golf courses:

Socastee Rec Park

Located at 7485 Butler Road in Myrtle Beach, Socastee Recreational Park is home to a thickly wooded 18-hole disc golf course with concrete tees offers a number of long holes — and substantial challenges. While the course is mostly flat, the trees lining many of the holes offers an opportunity for straight shooters to win the day. The full layout length is 6,703 feet, with a 63 par for the layout.

Splinter City

Found near The Market Common at 3500 Splinter City Road in Myrtle Beach, this 18-hole, moderately wooded course with concrete tees offers a pair of layouts — a 5,573-foot blue layout that’s great for beginners, and a 7,327-foot gold layout designed for more experienced players that brings more challenges. The par-58 course is completely flat and offers a mix of wide open and densely wooded fairways.

Withers Swash Park

Known as “the Swashbuckler,” this 18-hole course is located at Withers Swash Park at 314 Withers Swash Drive in Myrtle Beach. While it’s a short course that is suitable to players of all experience levels, it also offers a number of trees water obstacles and elevation changes to challenge more experienced players. The course’s tees are concrete, and no on-site restroom is available.

Coastal Carolina University

Found just off Highway 501 at University Boulevard and Technology Boulevard on the CCU campus in Conway, this fun, 9-hole short course with grass tees is largely wide open, with the exception of the ornamental trees and bushes lining some of the fairways.

Stables Park

Located in Stables Park at 2400 Petigru Drive in Pawleys Island, this 9-hole course offers beautiful scenery with its many live oak trees and ponds — which can also serve as obstacles during play. The course’s tees are turf, and a restroom is available on-site.
