Meet the Woman Behind the Magic at Mist Spa

Tiki bars and lazy rivers. Free breakfast buffets and larger-than-life chess sets. At Brittain Resorts, amenities have made a name for themselves.

Caribbean Resort visitors have discovered an extraordinary extra on-site: Mist Spa.

Spa co-owner Nancy Bobier has been at Mist since it opened at Caribbean Resort five years ago. She’s worked in the business for 10 years, and at Mist, wants to help others find what they love to do, she says.

“I’ve always hired people that are like-minded, who want the best for their clients,” Nancy says. “That makes for the best experience.”

‘The Magic Touch’

“I had a wonderful experience at Mist, a peaceful environment with friendly and very accommodating staff. I received a facial from Danette that was the best I’ve experienced. You can tell she loves what she does and goes above and beyond to give you an unforgettable experience! I will definitely be going back here and recommending it to everyone I know.”

Check out reviews for area attractions, as many travelers do, for your next getaway. You’ll find many like the one above when you investigate Mist Spa. Happy, five-star reviews, many of which mention estheticians by name.

“In a spa, the atmosphere is nice,” Nancy says. “That’s always a plus. But our success has a lot to do with our therapists, how they connect with clients, the techniques they use.

“When clients come back, they don’t remember pictures on the wall or the color of the paint. They remember their therapist. They remember the experience.”

Meeting the Clients’ Needs

As the world opens up, people are making that dash to the Grand Strand. Some have missed travel for a year or more. Some have stimulus funds and an attitude that they’re going to live life a bit more fully this summer.

And many of those find their way to Mist Spa.

“Travelers are ready to make their vacation experience the best,” Nancy says. “That often means more pampering for themselves. It’s been a hectic year for so many.”

Guests receive treatment intended not only for relaxation but favorable to their health. They come in with kinked necks from a long drive or flight. Plus, the tension that comes with trying to get away and do something good for themselves.

“The full effect of massage is not just a luxury, it’s a benefit for their well-being,” Nancy says.
“People come in jet-lagged or just worn out from traveling. Come in and relax, bring your shoulders down. Let’s help you.”

Many clients come in for a massage right away when the arrive, Nancy says, or just before they leave. Some do both. “Travel can be rough,” she says. “People want to feel good for vacation — and after vacation, too.”

Nancy’s favorite package is the Trio: a 30-minute massage, 30-minute facial, and a foot scrub. “It his all aspects,” she says.

A Worldly View of Spa Treatments

Nancy looks for a certain type of therapist when she adds to staff.

They must be passionate about their work. She says clients can tell when a therapist wants to help or is there just for a paycheck. She seeks candidates with varied backgrounds, techniques, and training.

That helps in a vacation destination. Mist Spa could see golfers in the winter, business people all year round. And, recently, a gaggle of baseball team moms. “We’re used to that kind of stuff,” Nancy says.

“The staff is well-rounded, and I love that. We’re prepared for any kind of clientele. We want to accommodate them any way possible.”

The esthetician in the review earlier in this post is Danetta Carson. She’s been in the beauty business for a while and transitioned from the salon to the spa. She joined Mist Spa in 2020 and loves it as much as her clients love her.

“It’s the atmosphere, camaraderie, teamwork, and support,” Danetta says. “And the ocean view isn’t bad either.

“An excellent spa starts from the top. I wanted to do something more tranquil, to help in mind and spirit. It’s about making people feel special, to leave here relaxed and happy.”

Mist Spa enjoys a wonderful relationship with its host, Caribbean Resort. The property is supportive of its on-site business. Its staff recommends guests visit the spa.

Nancy and her staff always are trying to figure out what is next, what they can do differently. She says she’d like to add more packages and deals. She loves hearing about experiences clients have in other spas during their travels.

This approach to business helps the spa stay busy – and keep those glowing reviews rolling in.

“The environment we’re in is amazing,” Nancy says. “It’s phenomenal. I love getting to meet people from all around the world – then see them smile as they walk out the door.”
