Little River May 5K

Oct. 1, Historic Little River Waterfront

Save the date for this run along a gorgeous bit of S.C. coast.  The race begins and ends at the waterfront. Proceeds will benefit End Pollo Now, high school scholarships, and more.

Distance: 5K fun run and walk

Start time: 8 a.m.

Fee: $30 (registration ends Sept. 30)

Bubble Palooza & Color Fun Run Festival

Oct. 9, Tanger Outlets, 4635 Factory Stores Blvd

There’s no heartbreak hill in these runs, but lots of fun and color. It’s a 1K loop runners can choose to run as many as five times. It’s also a festival with cornhole, giant yard games, inflatable games, warm-up dancers, and more. Festival admission is free.

Distance: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5K

Start times: 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, and 9 a.m.

Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon

Oct. 15-16, 8th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard

From the starting horn to the final race, this will be one fun weekend of running. The half has a surfing theme with cool finisher medals and a great post-race party. The new course features 5 miles along the coast. A coastal 5k and doggie dash round out a fun weekend.

Distance: 13.1 miles, 5K, doggie dash

Start times: Vary. 

Fee: $30-$80.

Ghost of the Coast Fun Run

If your hypothesis is that there must be a haunting … well, there IS a free trunk or treat event. It will feature face painting, games, and inflatables. There’s sure to be a ghost sighting! You’ll race on the 5K run and walk trail behind the Carolina Forest Recreation Center. Wear your costumes: They’ll give out prizes for them! Finishers get a medal and paid registrants receive Halloween socks.

Distance: 5K

Start time: 4 p.m.

Fee: $32.74 (price will increase to $35 after Aug. 31)
