It’s Fall Drink Season in Myrtle Beach: Beer, Cocktails, and Coffee

Boy, we’ve been waiting all summer for fall drinks.

Pumpkin this and pumpkin that. Spices. Concoctions that will warm the soul.

We love summer drinks, but fall just hits differently, doesn’t it?

Sample beer, cocktails, and coffee in Myrtle Beach establishments

Bust out your map of the Grand Strand. You can find the season’s tastiest drinks all around town.

Fall beer

Haven’t tried a fall harvest beer yet? Get with the program. You’re missing out on some terrific flavors. Try these in Myrtle Beach.

WATER MALONE

Your love language might switch to wheat after one sip.

Why it’s great: This wheat beer shines in its golden amber glory, topped with dense white foam. It’s made with more than 20 pounds of pureed and pasteurized watermelon for fresh flavor.

Where to get it: Independent Republic Brewing. The tacos and live music are boss, too. They have a friendly staff and a vast selection of other beers.

WHITE ALE

The flavors in this one correspond to that fall feeling you’re getting.

Why it’s great: This American version will enamor you if you love Belgian wheat ale. It’s got a hazy light golden hue and is Myrtle Beach-made.  It’s light and invigorating, with a touch of coriander and orange zest.

Where to get it: New South Brewing Company. There’s great beer all over this place. A must-visit. Hook and Barrel also serves it.

Fall cocktails

Tantalizing on the lips, warm in the stomach. These cocktails are like a little Grand Strand sunshine on a crispy day.

BERRY DERBY

Enjoy one of these with fall fun, and your day is complete.

Why it’s great: This specialty mule starts with Jim Beam Bourbon and blackberry. Sweet fall flavors. With ginger beer, slapped basil and lime, it’s a sunset for your tastebuds.

Where to get it: Strong Waters Craft Cocktails and Kitchen. Bartenders take care of you, and the drink menu is outstanding.

DARK & STORMIER

You should decide any disagreement over whether this is a fall cocktail with one more round.

Why it’s great: The combination of Gosling’s Dark Rum and ginger beer is a taste sensation. It’s also wonderful with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. Depends on your mood.

Where to get it: Pine Lakes Tavern. It’s a locals’ place that’s been a favorite for a long time. The drinks are on point. Every. Time. The food’s great, too.

Fall Coffee

Might as well resign to the fact that fall coffee is the official flavor of the season. Here are two you can’t miss.

CHAI LATTE

What, no pumpkin? This latte says fall without pumpkin at all.

Why it’s great: Cinnamon, cloves, spices. What says autumn more than that? For a nondairy version, ask for coconut milk or another substitute. Guaranteed to warm you on a chilly beach afternoon.

Where to get it: Starbucks. And there’s one onsite, at Caribbean Resort. You don’t even have to leave the property to enjoy this stellar treat.

TALK 144 DERBY TO ME

The other trendy flavor in this one — sea salt caramel — makes it a hit for fall.

Why it’s great: Espresso is the heart and soul of great coffee. With milk, white mocha, toffee nut, and sea salt caramel, this unique drink takes the cake.

Where to get it: Beach Hippie Coffee. It’s a great cafe, with a bright, inviting atmosphere. Ask baristas for suggestions. They have some good ones!
