Boating, Fishing, Hunting Highlight Grand Strand Boat Show & Sportsman’s Expo

Virtually all the major boating and fishing events in the Myrtle Beach area take place on the water, such as the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. But perhaps the biggest aquatic and angling gatherings of the year are held on dry land at the Grand Strand Boat Show & Sportsman Expo at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on Jan. 8-10.

Featuring three days of all things related to boating, fishing and hunting, the Grand Strand Boat Show & Sportsman Expo is the highlight event of the year for all kinds of outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen. Featuring hundreds of boats, motors and extras for sailing the high seas and the Lowcountry lakes and rivers, as well as countless numbers of fishing and hunting related items, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center lets patrons see it all under one roof and in the outdoor parking lot.

The 33rd Annual Grand Strand Boat Show & Outdoorsman Expo also offers dozens of seminars and demonstrations from some of the biggest names in the industry. Visitors can stroll around the main ballroom and check out the latest equipment in boating, hunting and fishing, and they can see demos on how to use those new features for a better overall outdoors experience. Learn how to cast the latest fly rods and reels, aim the newest high-tech weapons and cruise in the ultimate of luxury.

The Grand Strand Boat Show & Sportsman Expo also provides the top of the line equipment and gear for other recreational sports, including cutting edge gadgets like fish finders and GPS gadgets. Boat dealers, watersports outfitters and hunting and fishing experts from North and South Carolina will be on hand to display their latest lines of sporting goods, fishing tackle, ATV and UTV vehicles and more, and others will have merchandise on hand for patrons to test out and purchase.

Rated as one of the largest boating and fishing expos in the Southeastern United States, this three-day event attracts a wide selection of dealers, ranging from pleasure boats and yachts to fishing boats and kayaks. See some of the sharpest inshore and offshore fishing boats, ski and speedboats, pontoon boats, sailboats, catamarans, trawlers, paddle boats and more. An array of accessories, such as inboard and outboard motors, life preservers and rafts, skis and tubes and special fishing attachments, are among the more popular items on display.

Experts in all areas of the outdoors will take the stage to offer tips and to showcase new equipment and techniques. The explosion of technology gives old-school hunters and anglers the chance to try out the gadgets and gizmos under the direction of a trained expert, and renowned outdoorsmen help pass on some of their best-kept secrets about how to boat a big one or how to bag a big buck. Archery and angling outfitters showcase their gear and give guests the chance to try before they buy as target practice ranges and pools are available for use.

The Grand Strand Boat Show also features several entertainment activities, like gator wrestling, camping villages and interactive hunting and fishing games. Test out new deer stands, animal calls, camping gear, all-terrain and recreational vehicles, customized golf carts and just about anything else you can find in the great outdoors. The Grand Strand Boat Show & Sportsman Expo is set for Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for children under 12, and kids under the age of 5 are admitted free.
