Myrtle Beach: A Dream Destination for Lovers of Sports (Especially Football)

Myrtle Beach is a top destination for its 60 miles of white sand beaches, destinations such as the Hollywood Wax Museum, and hot dining spots such as Oceanfront Tiki Bar.

But for sports lovers, the area is a dream come true.

Myrtle Beach is known as the Golf Capital of the World, with more than 90 championship courses. The area hosts great sporting events such as the Myrtle Beach Invitational, which is a top preseason college basketball tournament. And the area also features something for lovers of many other sports. During baseball season, visitors can check out a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game. And the semi-pro Myrtle Beach Mutiny team is ready to keep fans cheering during soccer season.

The area is also a top destination for football fanatics. The Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers play in the NCAA Sunbelt Conference and have appeared in three bowl games. Several of their players have gone on to the NFL.

A Football Watcher’s Paradise

The Chanticleers play their games at James C. Benton field at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. Brooks Stadium is a 21,000-seat multi-purpose stadium that would be a great site for a family visit during a Myrtle Beach vacation.

For those who prefer to watch the game off-site, Myrtle Beach provides ample opportunity. You can’t talk about Myrtle Beach sports bars without mentioning the Avenue at Broadway at the Beach. It is known as the home to various bars and restaurants that are ideal for watching football. Just one example is Dave and Buster’s, which features a large wall of TVs, an arcade, a full food and drink menu, and comfortable seating.

But if they make it to the stadium, the football fanatics in the family will have an especially exciting time, seeing players such as the Chanticleers’ Grayson McCall, who was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Player of the Year in 2020. That year, he led the team to its first-ever undefeated season.
