Ready to explore one of the top attractions of Myrtle Beach? Ripley’s Aquarium is located at Broadway at the Beach, and is over 87,000 square feet, with 1.4 million gallons of saltwater traveling over 40 miles of pipes, and displaying thousands of fish from around the world.

As you being your journey, explore the Rio Amazon, that recreates the prime-evil, lush world of the rainforest, where more than 2,000 species of fish thrive. Next, you’ll discover Rainbow Rock, the Indo-Pacific coral reef, where there are thousands of colorful fish from the tropical islands. Here, you can even catch a live dive show.

Step onto the moving glide path as it takes you on a 330-foot journey through a spectacular underwater tunnel exhibit. Come face to face with tarpons, grunts, squirrelfish, a green sea turtle, moray eels, and of course, sharks. Did you know Ripley’s Aquarium processes more water daily than the entire city of Myrtle Beach uses within a 24-hour period? Another cool fact is that most of the sharks that are here are from off the coast of South Carolina.

Time for beauty and brawns. The Living Gallery is up next. Here you’ll see the strange and unusual, beautiful and deadly marine life, like the giant octopus from deep in the pacific waters. Explore the vibrant coral reefs along with the animals and plants that use them for protection. You’ll even see the spectacular sea nettles, commonly known as jellyfish. Although they’re quite beautiful to see, you’re glad there’s glass between you.

Time to get splashed at Ray Bay! There are hundreds of rays here, cow-nose, spotted eagle, and southern stingrays. All of the marine life here is taken care of by ten aquarist team members. Once a month they conduct ultrasounds on their rays and other marine life, to make sure they’re healthy. It’s quite a spectacle to see when they gather the rays and conduct the tests. You can watch a feeding of the rays, touch the rays, and even get to swim with them!

Did you know that to keep electricity going to all of these exhibits, it takes a million feet of electrical wiring? That’s 190 miles of wire – about the distance from Myrtle Beach to Georgia! With over sixteen years here in Myrtle Beach, and a staple at Broadway at the Beach, you need to come and explore the undersea life here at Ripley’s Aquarium. See you soon for an adventure you won’t ever forget!
