Top 5 Local Restaurants in Myrtle Beach

One of the biggest mistakes a vacationing family can make is to go out to dinner at a major national chain. With so many excellent locally owned and operated restaurants in Myrtle Beach, it's a shame to pass them up for the same meal you can get back home.

Guests at Caribbean Resort are in luck. Two of the best restaurants in Myrtle Beach are within walking distance of the property, so you don't have to worry about driving and parking, and the walk back to your room with a full belly is a quick and easy one. In fact, all five of the restaurants on our list are within a couple of miles of the resort:

Croissants: Located at the corner of 38th Avenue North and Robert Grissom Parkway, this award-winning, European-style bistro and bakery serves three fine-dining meals a day. The breakfast menu is filled with fresh baked goods and traditional American breakfast items, but Croissants shows its true European colors for lunch and dinner. Feast on fresh seafood dishes combined with quality cuts of meat in a creative menu. Soups, salads and starters are also outstanding, and make sure to pick up some treats from the bakery to take back to the room for later.

Mr. Fish: Owned and operated by the father-son team of Ted and Shaina Hammerman, this local seafood hot spot has it all. Ted ran the local seafood markets for years and still has the best connections for the freshest fish, shrimp, scallops, crabs and oysters in town. A sushi bar serves the freshest rolls in town, and the kitchen serves up some tasty dishes with a Southern spin, like the Shrimp and Grits. Mr. Fish also offers one of the best happy hours in town with select appetizers for only $5 and discounted beer prices. Mr. Fish is open for lunch and dinner, and they will even give you a ride on the shuttle bus.

New York Prime: Located just two blocks from the Caribbean on 28th Avenue, this regional chain is designed for those who love a great steak. Serving in-house, 21-day dry-aged cuts of prime beef, New York Prime is the closest thing to a traditional Manhattan steakhouse you will find in South Carolina. Enjoy a thick juicy steak cooked just the way you like it, and add on a giant baked potato or grilled onions and mushrooms. Although New York Prime specializes in beef, the grilled sea bass is one of the best seafood dishes in town. Wash it down with a cold draft beer or a glass from the extensive wine list.

Rioz: If you have never experienced a Brazilian-style steakhouse, here is your chance.  Located a straight shot up 29th Avenue North across from Broadway at the Beach, this unique eatery puts a twist on buffet dining by bringing the food to you. Serving hot skewers of beef, shrimp, chicken, pork and more, Rioz sends its team of gauchos around the dining room with flaming hot meats to carve and serve directly on your plate. Put your table sign on green for more, or turn it to red when you've had enough. A huge salad bar features sushi, seafood and all the trimmings to go with your table-side meal.

Sea Captain's House: The Caribbean is proud to have this Myrtle Beach institution as its next-door neighbor. Located in an old beach cottage, Sea Captain's House has been making vacation memories with awesome seafood meals for more than 65 years. You can't beat the ocean view, and the award-winning food is national famous, featured in Southern Living and other major publications for its Southern seafood cuisine. Serving three meals a day, Sea Captain's is known for its She-Crab Soup, Shrimp and Grits and Seafood Platters. You can’t beat the food or the view.
