They say the more the merrier, and that's certainly the case for large groups visiting the Grand Strand. Whether it's a family reunion, a golf gathering, a big wedding or just a group of strangers taking a bus tour, there are plenty of fun activities in the Myrtle Beach area that will be a hit with everyone in your party – even the party poopers. Here are the top five places for large groups to have a big time:

* Alabama Theatre: Named for the country music super group that got its start on the Grand Strand, the Alabama Theatre carries on the tradition of the namesake band by providing quality entertainment to the masses at Barefoot Landing. The popular music and variety show “One” continues its impressive run, and national touring acts, such as The Temptations and Bill Cosby, bring top-notch entertainment to the stage every night.

* Broadway at the Beach: Keep everyone in your group happy by taking them to this popular shopping, dining, entertainment and nightlife complex. Let everyone split up and go their own way on this 300-plus-acre property, which is filled with excellent restaurants, unique retail stores, exciting attractions and dance clubs. Spend a full day without seeing the same thing twice, then meet up with your group for a nice dinner. By the way, Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville can accommodate large parties.

* Brookgreen Garden: Few places on the planet can please a large group of guests with their own distinct tastes, but this botanical and sculpture garden, the largest and oldest on the East Coast, has a way of winning everyone over. The beautiful merger of art and nature make this a magical Lowcountry landscape. From the rare flowers and 200-year-old live oaks to the unique statues and structures, Brookgreen Garden gives guests lots of reasons to fill up their photo cards. Located on a former rice plantation, the property also has a zoo featuring native species, boat tours through the salt marshes and tidal creeks, an arts and crafts center, cafe and gift shop.

* Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Baseball is America’s pastime, and the local minor-league team offers a great way for groups to spend a few hours during their visit to Myrtle Beach. The Advanced Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs plays at TicketReturn.com Field beside Broadway at the Beach from April through September. But you don’t have to be a baseball fan to enjoy the Pelicans’ experience. The team is known for putting on entertaining promotions and between-inning performances, and there are various promotion nights that serve $1 draft beers and hot dogs. Kids especially enjoy the experience of running the bases after the game and feasting on popcorn, peanuts and cotton candy. Group rates are available and the team will recognize your party over the PA system and on the Jumbotron.

* Pine Lakes International Country Club: If you're visiting with a group of golfers and want to get the true Myrtle Beach golf experience, then Pine Lakes is the one course you have to play. Nicknamed “The Granddaddy” for its role as the first of more than 100 golf courses on the Grand Strand, Pine Lakes is the course that pioneered Myrtle Beach as a golf destination. Enjoy a free cup of seafood chowder and a refreshing mimosa during your round, and enjoy a 19th hole in the historic clubhouse. Pine Lakes is semi-private so only a limited number of public rounds are available, but the 1927 club has a proud history of hosting large groups with true Southern hospitality.
