Swashbuckling adventures await you at Pirates Voyage in Myrtle Beach
The Cottages at North Beach Plantation offer an authentic home-away-from-home experience in its beautiful condos and cottages.
You can sit back and relax while taking advantage of the spa, Wellness and Health Center or simply enjoy the sunset while taking a stroll on the beach.
When you are ready to explore The Grand Strand, however, you should definitely put Pirates Voyage on your out-and-about list.
An attraction founded by Dolly Parton that is on the site of the former Dixie Stampede, Pirates Voyage brings high seas adventures to life in a dynamic show filled with spectacular acrobatics and stunning visuals.
The $11 million production includes trained dogs, exotic birds and sea lions that help create a show in which the Crimson and Sapphire pirates war against each other on deck, in water and while flying through the air above three full-sized pirate ships.
Guests cheer for their respective pirates during the battle scenes while eating a five-course feast served by staff dressed in pirate regalia. The dinner consists of creamy vegetable soup, bread, half of a roasted chicken, a barbecue rib, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, an apple turnover and beverage of choice. A vegetarian meal option is available, too.
During the show, guests are not only treated to good eats but also exhilarating songs and musical scores written by Parton and Mark Brymer.
All the splashing action – complete with beautiful mermaids that swing from on high via anchors and swim below – takes place in a 30,000 square foot arena with a 750,000-gallon indoor lagoon that is 15-feet deep.
However, the show begins with guests first enjoying an interactive experience in the Pirates Lair and Crow’s Nest. From there, they head into the main theatre space where the production gets underway.
From November through early January, the swashbuckling action continues but with a Christmas theme. In “Christmas at Pirate Voyage,” guests take to the sea with Captain Scrooge and the Spirit of Christmas as they journey to the past, present and future of Buccaneer Bay. As they travel, the audience witness toys come to life and dazzle them with acrobatics. The most touching aspect of the show comes during the live Nativity when the wise men and animals help Scrooge realize he must change his grouchy ways.
The Scrooge’s positive transformation allows the pirates to engage in adventures once again and battle for the Christmas treasure.
