Five Ways to Show Mom a Great Mother’s Day in Myrtle Beach

Taking Mom to Myrtle Beach is a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day — and spoiling Mom on her special day makes for an even more memorable vacation, both for her and the family. While a stay at the Caribbean Resort & Villas is a nice way to reward and say thank you to Mom, taking her out for some of these Mom-friendly treats will really put a smile on her face for Mother’s Day:

Brookgreen Gardens: Mothers love flowers, and nowhere else on the Grand Strand has as beautiful a collection of blossoming buds as this 9,000-acre property in nearby Murrells Inlet. Located on a former rice plantation about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, Brookgreen Gardens is the largest and oldest botanical sculpture garden on the East Coast. Containing a wide variety of plant life surrounding an impressive collection of statues, Brookgreen is in full bloom around Mother’s Day. Admission is good for seven consecutive days, so you can visit more than once on the sunniest days — and there is plenty to see beyond the 250-year-old live oak trees and native flowers. Check out the Butterfly House and the Lowcountry Zoo, and take a tour of the old plantation grounds and rice fields.

Brunch/Dinner: Mom shouldn’t have to cook or do the dishes on this holiday, so spoil her with a meal at one of the best restaurants in town. For an inspirational experience, the House of Blues hosts its Sunday Gospel Brunch with Southern cooking and soulful music, and Chestnut Hill, Croissants Bakery & Bistro and Tupelo Honey Cafe put out an incredible spread all day Sunday. If Mom would prefer a night out instead, visit the famous Sea Captain’s House or New York Prime, each of which is located just a short walk from the Caribbean. Satisfy her sweet tooth with a tasty treat from the on-site Ben & Jerry’s or Starbucks.

Shopping: Most moms love to shop any day of the year, but a Mother’s Day shopping spree is extra special — particularly one in Myrtle Beach. Featuring a wide selection of shopping opportunities, the Grand Strand boasts several multi-purpose retail, dining and entertainment venues (Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach and Market Common), three major malls (Coastal Grand, Inlet Square and Myrtle Beach Malls), two Tanger Outlet Stores (Highway 501 and Kings Highway), and a multitude of everything from big-box chains to small boutiques. Look for lots of Mother’s Day specials at the major anchor stores and local shops.

Show: Take Mom out for a real treat at one of the many live theaters in Myrtle Beach. Mom can even go to the popular Legends in Concert venue for free thanks to our Sun & Fun Rewards program. Among the many benefits is a free adult admission ticket to the celebrity-tribute venue, which is located only one mile and a straight shot down 29th Avenue North from the Caribbean. Other area entertainment venues include the Alabama Theatre and the House of Blues at Barefoot Landing, the Palace Theatre at Broadway at the Beach, and The Carolina Opry and Pirates Voyage near Restaurant Row. If Mom is a history buff and loves a show with her dinner, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament offers a royal performance and a feast fit for a queen.

Spa Day: Spoil Mom with a trip to the spa for a makeover and a massage. Guests at the Caribbean have access to the Cinzia Spa at North Beach Plantation for a wide variety of spa services, including a salon for hair, nails and makeup, a massage center for ritual treatments and therapeutic rubdowns, and a fitness center offering yoga, Pilates, CrossFit and other workouts. Help Mom relax to the max with a full day of pampering.

Best of all, Mom can make the most of Mother’s Day at the Caribbean by relaxing on the beach or tanning lawn or in the hot tub or pools, followed by a comfortable evening with her luxury accommodations and private ocean-view balcony. It’s all part of a great Mother’s Day weekend at the Caribbean.
